About

St Columba’s Church is a special place for many people. For our parish members who regularly celebrate the Eucharist and other services here, St Columba’s is their spiritual home, but you do not need to live in Wilston, or attend church here, to have a special connection with the Church building.

Friends are people with connections to St Columba’s.

Over the past 100 years, St Columba’s Church has provided a beautiful location for significant events in people’s lives such as Baptisms, Confirmations, First Communions, weddings and funerals.

Many children and their parents have been welcomed into our community through our school and have fond memories of their time here, their attendance at school Masses and other significant celebrations in the Church.

Our mission is to maintain our beautiful and historic Church and ensure that it is handed on to future generations so that it may continue to be a place of worship, solace, joy and quiet in the midst of our busy world.

This mission is impossible without your support.

St Columba’s Restoration

St Columba’s is currently in it’s final phase of its three phase restoration plan.

St Columba’s Parish continues to fund the day-to-day operations of the church, as well as the administrative aspects of the restoration projects including the cost of the heritage consultant, scope of works and the required plans.

This means that 100% of your donation to our “Family of Faith” campaign will go directly to the restoration of St Columba’s Church. Every dollar contributed by the community will be evident in the building around you at every Mass, wedding, baptism and funeral.

Conservation Management Plan

Friends of St Columba’s Steering Commitee was formed to consider the immediate needs for the Church building including priorisation of urgent and maintenance works.

The committee commissioned Australian Heritage Specialists Pty. Ltd. to prepare a Conservation Management Plan (CMP) to provide heritage advice and priority direction for the implementation of these works.

The plan is detailed and includes historical background, site description, cultural and heritage significance, obligations and opportunities, conservation policies and an implementation plan.
